Local History Research Sessions

Ever wondered about the stories hidden in your family tree or are you just interest in the history of Nidderdale? 

Research days - come and explore our records in person! 

The Museum holds dedicated research days when people can access its records. Please keep an eye on this page for upcoming dates or email us for more information. 

During research days we provide the following:

Expert Guidance: Two experienced volunteers on hand to assist with your queries.

Hands-On Access: Direct access to museum records and archives.

Photo Permissions: Your fee includes permission to take photographs for personal use.

Cost: £10 per session (Payable in advance via our website).

FREE for Members of the Nidderdale Museum Society CIO.

Can’t make it to the museum? Then let us do the digging.

Initial Check (FREE): Send us a brief summary of your query and we will check if we have relevant records.

Full Research (£30): If we confirm we have relevant information we will contact you for confirmation that we should proceed with further research. You will need to send payment at this point. Once we have confirmed payment, our volunteers will provide up to 2 hours of dedicated research and send the results directly to you.

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you are interested in using these services, please check our website for dates or use our contact form to send us details of the general area of your research interests and what type of information you are seeking to find. Someone will contact you with more information as to whether we can assist.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR RESEARCH DAYS

After booking if you need to cancel, we will require 2 days notice prior to the research date. Your fee will then either be rolled over to another research day or refunded. If you give less than 2 days notice we will roll your fee over to another research day but unfortunately we will not be able to provide a refund.
