The second talk in our spring series will be by Nevin Ward and is entitled Truth, Lies and Porky Pies – telling tales about the characters, events and challenges behind Nidderdale’s history plays.  It will be held on Tuesday 28th March from 7p.m. in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall.

Entry free for members, and £5 on the door or book via Eventbrite – link to be arranged.  E-mail to secure your place.

Nevin will be familiar to many as the playwright who brought local history to the stage with his stories of the building of Nidderdale’s reservoirs in The Dam Play; a tale of religious conflict and persecution in Gouthwaite Hall; and more recently introduced us to Nidderdale’s most infamous murderer, Eugene Aram.  He’ll reveal how he did it, as well as revealing some of hiw writing secrets, and we’ll find out just how accurate he was with the truth!
