What a night that was… secrets revealed, sources explained, songs performed,
and a world premiere of Nevin’s new song….The Nidderdale Boy.
A crowd of 120 enjoyed an evening full of laughter, history and song.

The second talk in our spring series was by Nevin Ward and  entitled Truth, Lies and Porky Pies – telling tales about the characters, events and challenges behind Nidderdale’s history plays.

Nevin will be familiar to many as the playwright who brought local history to the stage with his stories of the building of Nidderdale’s reservoirs in The Dam Play; a tale of religious conflict and persecution in Gouthwaite Hall; and more recently introduced us to Nidderdale’s most infamous murderer, Eugene Aram.  He’ll reveal how he did it, as well as revealing some of his writing secrets, and we’ll find out just how accurate he was with the truth!
