ACCREDITATION SUCCESS

Nidderdale Museum was awarded Full Accreditation by Arts Council England on 5th October 2023. This followed 3 years of hard work by the volunteers and part-time project staff and means that the Museum has now been recognised as being properly managed and governed to the nationally agreed industry standard.  It shows that the Museum takes proper care of its collections, sharing them with visitors and keeping them safe for future generations. It is now one of just 1750 accredited museums in England.
Liz Johnson, Director Museums and Cultural Property at Arts Council England said: “We’re delighted that Nidderdale Museum has been successful in gaining their Accreditation status. This means that their Collections will be looked after and maintained, offering inspiration, enjoyment and learning for the local community and visitors to enjoy now and in the future.”
Sue Welch, Chairman of Nidderdale Museum said: “It has been a challenging period to create and review all the necessary paperwork, while dealing with the other issues caused by the Covid pandemic, but we are pleased that our hard work has now been recognised and we can move into the future with confidence.”
