On 1st April, Nidderdale Museum Society became Nidderdale Museum Society CIO!
This may not mean much to you, but we are now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, and as such we are a legal entity, and are no longer dependent on all leases, investments, employment contracts etc being held by trustees on behlaf of the Society. It relieves the pressure on trustees and should make the Society more sustainable. You should not notice any difference, except for the extra letters on our name, and it will take a while for all our booklets and signs to reflect our new identity, but we are now much more like a Limited company, except still regulated by the Charity Commission. Our new Charity No. is 1197116. The old Charity will shortly be dissolved as all its assets have transfrred to the CIO, and it will then transfer to the Mergers Register.
We are also delighted to welcome two new part-time staff to the Museum this week who will be moving forward with the Lottery Project – Sustaining Nidderdale’s Heritage. Exciting times ahead!
