An account of the various ways in which Nidderdale folk have celebrated and commiserated throughout the centuries. Alongside the descriptions of Pateley Feast and other festivals there are interesting details of weddings and funerals, and other local customs, ably supported by personal reminiscences, recipes and observation.

This booklet includes four delightful coloured drawings by local artist Sheila Hone, a black and white print of ancient Gouthwaite Hall, and fourteen old photographs from the Museum’s archives.
