Our Exhibits

On display in Nidderdale Museum

Nidderdale Museum has a large collection of items, illustrating all aspects of Dale’s life in the past. Our exhibits reflect the life of of ordinary people in imaginative and realistic settings.

We have sections devoted to agriculture, industries, religion, transport and costume, set out across 11 rooms.

Our Current Exhibits

WORLD WAR I AND WORLD WAR II

Air raid siren sound effects fill the air of the war room, with uniforms, wartime posters and gas masks on display.

VICTORIAN PARLOUR

This room-set has everything you would expect to find in a Victorian parlour, complete with afternoon tea!

GENERAL STORE

Our shopkeeper has all manner of vintage goods for sale in our general store. You’re sure to recognise some familiar brands!

COBBLER'S SHOP

A faithful recreation of a complete cobbler’s shop, full of shoe-making equipment and leather work.

MINING

Take a walk through into the dark of our lead mine tunnel. You might spot a miner in the gloom!

TRANSPORT IN THE DALES

We have a Penny Farthing bicycle, original railway and road signs, as well as information about the local railway.

SCHOOL ROOM

Always popular with children, our schoolroom exhibit is a taste of Victorian education, with slate boards (and dunce cap!).

Take the stand in our magistrates court and see how justice was served in times past. A nervous looking defendant awaits your verdict!
