The Nidderdale Museum Society is delighted to announce that it has been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service (QAVS).
An invitation to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party was accepted by the Chair of the Society, and the presentation was made by the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire at a ceremony in September. The Society has received a certificate signed by Her Majesty and a heavy piece of crystal glass engraved with the Crown and QAVS 2017.
This is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. Created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of The Queen’s coronation, it is the MBE for volunteer groups.
